
Andreas Felber
Andreas Felber was born and raised in Lucerne, and was a longtime member of the Lucerne Boys Choir, where he received his first singing lessons. He studied choral conducting with Ulrike Grosch and Stefan Albrecht as well as singing with Liliane Zürcher at the Lucerne School of Music completing both courses with distinction.
Andreas has appeared in the Luzern Theatre, both as a singer and as a conductor. He attended an ‘Interpretation Workshop for Conductors’ with Ton Koopman and a Master Class with Anders Eby. He has also participated in master classes for singers with Jakob Stämpfli, Klaus Mertens and Margreet Honig. In March 2009 he took part in the International Young Conductors Competition in Ljubljana (SLO), where he gained the second prize.
Since 2004, he has directed the Swiss ensemble "molto cantabile", with which he has won national and international successes (among others, as a prize-winner at Choral competitions in Tolosa, Cork and Spittal an der Drau).
From 2007 - 2012, Andreas Felber was musical director of the Chamber Choir Luzern, and since 2012 has been head of the ProMusicaViva project series. In addition, Andreas Felber is the choir conductor at the Davos Festival "Young Artists in Concert".
From 2011 - 2015 he conducted the Swiss Youth Choir in association with his colleague Dominique Tille. The choir was enthusiastically received throughout Europe, receiving much acclaim for its high quality and energetic presence. This led to a second prize at the prestigious International Chamber Choir Competition in Marktoberdorf (Germany).
Andreas has worked as a singer at the Zürcher Sing-Akademie, and as a permanent guest director since 2015/16. He has been appointed Interim Artistic Director for the season 2016/17. In the summer of 2017 he will assume a professorship at the University of Music, Theatre and Dance in Hanover (Germany) and succeed Gudrun Schröfel as director of the acclaimed Mädchenchor Hannover.
