Kousan 300 member choir was founded by the great Armenian composer, musicologist, arranger, choirmaster, singer KOMITAS (Soghomon Soghomonian) in 1910 Constantinople (Istanbul). The choir toured Armenian communities and gave performances of Folk compositions by komitas.
One of the four brilliant students’ of Komitas, Parsegh Ganatchian, composer, conductor, continues the direction of Kousan choir from 1936 to 1961, Beirut, Lebanon.
From 1990 and on Kousan choir becomes within Hamazkayin Cultural association mission of Lebanon.Thus the choir continues its concerts and performances under direction of well known Armenian conductors, Haroutioun Topikyan, Yervand Yerkanyan, Barkev Taslakian.
Now the direction of Kousan chamber choir is under Krikor Alozian.
