After studying piano at the Versailles Conservatoire, Anne-Marie CRETTE studied music at the University of Rouen, where she discovered what have remained her three musical passions: singing, choral conducting and teaching music. As well as teaching music and music history at the Conservatoire of Caen, she continued to study singing and conducting with Philippe Caillard, Claire Marchand, and Valérie Fayet in Caen, and also attended master classes abroad with Eric Ericson, Richard Miller etc.

Since 1979, Anne-Marie CRETTE has conducted several choirs and vocal ensembles giving many concerts in France as wells as tours in Germany, Hungary, Czech Republic and Canada.  One feature of her vision has been to create thematic programs which include lesser-known works and first performances, linking the amateur and professional worlds.

In 2002 she formed the female choir “La Fugue et Cie”, now since 2006 a mixed voices ensemble.

Her teaching career continues to develop and includes the coordination of several artistic projects – not only musical – with secondary school students. She is a member of the Faculty of ESPE at the University of Caen, teaching music to the new generation of teachers, developing training in all aspects of the voice, conducting, repertoire  and she have a Teachers & students Choir.

Since 2004 Anne-Marie Cretté has been in charge of Culture at the University, organising many artistic events, exhibitions and concerts in the Region.

Aside her academic works, she teaches today interactive musical pedagogy to teachers of music schools and conservatories, refering notably to Kodaly method and various choral repertoires.

For 30 years Anne-Marie and Jacques VANHERLE have shared an unshakeable commitment to the promotion of choral singing throughout the region of Basse-Normandie, and together they created the Polyfollia association. She is an official of and musical adviser to Polyfollia, in particular for the biennial “International Showcase for Choir Singing”. For the 2 last editions, she was also the coordinator of the CAMP (Choral Art Management Program), a professional training session formation for international young managers of choral events.
